Originally founded as Xecutioner in 1985, Obituary is one of the pioneers of Death Metal. Obituary is arguably the definitive Florida Death Metal band, sticking to the styles that have come to define what the vast majority of Florida Death Metal bands are.
The band was broken up in 1997, only to re-form 6 years later. The band recorded Frozen in Time 2 years after that, and has been back in the scene ever since.
Obituary Finishes Recording New Album
Mon, 2009-03-02 22:55 — coryLegendary Tampa Death Metal act, Obituary, has finished recording their new album. The album, which has yet to be named, is due for a May release on Candlelight Records. While the album has yet to be named, the artwork has already been completed ( look left ). The band has already released public statements about their excitement surrounding the new album.

Wed, 2009-02-25 19:05 — coryObituary, the pioneering Death Metal band from Tampa, FL, are back at it again. The band is currently in the studio recording it's 10th studio release in 20 years. Says Ralph Santolla :
"Trevor [Peres, guitar] finished his tracks yesterday, and I'm doing solos now. The new stuff is HEAVY, some of my favorite Obituary riffs yet. Trevor's guitar sounds huge and menacing. If you like Obituary, you're gonna love this record."

Death Metal pioneers, Obituary, have scheduled a tour with some other amazing bands for next fall. Currently, none of the announced tour dates include Florida. That happened with Obituary's last tour too, but a Tampa date was announced later.

Sun, 2008-10-19 14:04 — coryFront man for the lengendary Tampa area Death Metal band, Obituary, has issued this update on their tour in Japan:
"What a night! Somewhere around 20,000 people going crazy. This was a long trip for only one show, especially on the heels of our U.S. tour, but it was well worth it! You guys were awesome last night and it looks like we will be coming back to Japan soon. Our EP is apparently selling great here and it is setting it up nicely for us to come back for a complete tour of Japan.
