Death Metal Giants Combine To Form Exitsect
Members from some of the largest, and most influential of Florida Death Metal bands have come together to form a new band, Exitsect. The line-up includes Paul Pavlovich (Assuck) on vocals, Greg Gall (Six Feet Under) on drums, Sam Williams (Massacre) and Joe Kiser (Paineater) on Guitars, and Frank Watkins (Obituary) on bass. The band also employes talent from Alex Vasic for what they describe as "Electronic Ornamentation". Sounds like a Metal Christmas tree to me.
The group only song, "Embrace of the Pale Rope", was recorded at Mana Studios by Brian Elliot. the song is incredibly long, taking up nearly 15 minutes. That's practically an EP on it's own. The song is not Death Metal. The band labels itself as Doom Metal, and the song definitely speaks to that.
The band is currently looking for a label, and has said little about the intentions the members have for the project. Since all of the members have fairly demanding existing engagements, it's questionable that much will come of Exitsect. Perhaps a tour, or two. Maybe a few special appearances when the members other bands have similar touring arrangements. Otherwise, it's likely to be a few sparse songs.
That's a shame, because the song they have up on their MySpace page is good. It's a steady flow of doomy drudgery. Hopefully something will come out of Exitsect, because they're pretty good.
